ClubsThere's lots to do at DHFS! Take a look at some of the great clubs that you can be part of;

ClubsArt Club

  • Time: Thursdays, 12:40pm - 1:30pm (bring a packed lunch)
  • Place: F25
  • Leader: Miss Macnair

Come along to art club to develop skills, creativity and group work. Opportunities include: drawing and painting, photography, mixed media work, group tasks, sculpture, set design, portraiture, working from life. All year groups are welcome.


ClubsCode Club

  • Time: Tuesdays, 12:40pm - 1:20pm
  • Place: A11
  • Leader: Mr Potts and Mr Hawksworth

Come along and learn how to create your own games and programs in Scratch, Python and SmallBasic. If you're already a keen programmer, you are welcome to work on your own projects, show off your skills and help other students learn. There will also be the opportunity to get hands-on and have a go with a Raspberry Pi computer.

No programming experience required – there will be plenty of worksheets, tutorials and help available to get you started.


ClubsComputer Hardware Club

  • Time: Thursdays, 12:40pm - 1:20pm

Come along for anything computer hardware related - PCs, Raspberry Pi, micro:bits, robots, vintage computer hardware etc. Do you want to help build a computer? Do you want to bring in your own computer hardware? All years welcome.


ClubsDHFS Movie Nights

  • Time: The last Wednesday of each term, 3:40pm - 5:30pm
  • Place: E2
  • Leader: Miss Smith and Miss Watkin

Look out for the slides displayed in mentor time to find out what films are showing. To attend, get a permission slip signed by a parent/carer. Questions? See Miss Smith or Miss Watkin.


DHFS Pride

  • Time: Fridays, 12:30pm
  • Place: ALR Room (next to the conference room)
  • Leader: Ms. Byrd

DHFS Pride is a student led social club, open to all students. The aim of the group is to promote inclusivity and eradicate homophobic and transphobic language and behaviour.


ClubsDrama Club (for Year 7, 8 and 9)

  • Time: Tuesdays, 12:30pm - 1:20pm (bring a packed lunch)
  • Place: Fanshawe Hall
  • Leader: Mr. J Parker and Miss Sinclair

Come along to Year 7, 8 and 9 Drama club to learn about acting and the theatre. You will play loads of drama games, get involved in performances and have the opportunity to go to the theatre! Bring a packed lunch with you so we have more time to do drama.

ClubsFashion & Textiles Club

If you have a passion for fashion and a flair for design then come along on a Wednesday lunchtime and join the Fashion & Textiles Club. Learn how to design and make your own clothes. Open to all year groups.


ClubsGirls Engineering Club (for Year 7 and 8 girls)

  • Time: Thursdays, 3:30pm - 4:30pm
  • Place: Technology workshop E18
  • Leader: Mrs. Davies and Miss. Birch

Our current projects include pewter casting, and designing and manufacturing wind chimes, so get involved and get yourself down to the E18 Technology workshop on Thursdays to learn more.


ClubsHistory Club (for Year 7, 8 and 9)

Spend your lunch with fellow History lovers, playing games and finding out more about your favourite time periods (as well as watching Horrible Histories!) See Mr Caulton in C16 for more details!


ClubsKnitting Club

  • Time: Mondays, 12:30pm - 1:20pm
  • Place: Fanshawe LRC
  • Leader: Mrs. Beeden

For fans of all thing woolly! We are not spinning you a yarn. Join us in creating warm, useful and creative things in this crafty afternoon club. All years welcome.


ClubsPet Club

  • Time: Tuesdays, 12:30pm - 1pm
  • Place: F3
  • Leader: Mrs. M Walker and Mrs. Cornthwaite

Anyone is welcome, but it's mainly aimed at years 7, 8 and 9.
Our ethos is about making friends and making new animal friends too! We have resident animals; Pebbles the Hamster and tropical fish. Different animals also visit us each week, from dogs and cats to snakes! On top of that, students can arrange to bring their own pets in from home.


Puzzle Club

  • Time: Mondays, 12:30pm - 1pm
  • Place: F22 (maths)
  • Leader: Miss. N Campbell

Open to everyone. The club offers a wide variety of puzzles and games requiring the use of logic, problem solving and team work.


ClubsReaders' & Writers' Club

  • Time: Mondays, 12:30pm - 12:55pm

  • Leader: Mrs. Whitelegg

For all keen readers. Do you enjoy reading and writing, stories, poems, lyrics? Then come to Readers' and Writers' Club. All years welcome.


ClubsScience Club

  • Time: Thursdays, 3:30pm - 4:30pm
  • Place: F2
  • Leader: Miss L Webster

Scientifically investigate anything you wish! Whether it be monitoring the behaviour of your pet hamster, or trialling the quality of various lipsticks, it's entirely your choice. You'll have the opportunity to achieve a CREST award and share research with the school and your parents at the end of the year.

There's more; Science club members get exclusive access to science visits, national competitions and priority in whole school science trips! 


ClubsSinging Stars

  • Time: Fridays, 12:40pm - 1:15pm
  • Place: F12

Love singing? All ages and abilities of staff and students are welcome. Experience that 'feel good' effect that you only get from singing in a large group. We sing current, up-to date songs and even do requests!
