Last week, DHFS students and staff celebrated the European Day of Languages, which was on 26th September.
This event was even more special this year as it marked the 20th anniversary of this European-wide celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity. The students attended House Assemblies on the theme of languages, experienced cross-curricular activities in their lessons, and took part in our star event: the European Themed bake-off.
A panel formed by members of the Modern Foreign Languages team, our Food Technology faculty, and SLT - including our Headteacher, Mr Cooper - judged the cakes from a cultural point of view, and baking technicality. All were blown away by the amazing quality of the cakes.
The winners are as follows:
Joint first: C. Brown for her classy, tall, French themed cake, and I. Peto for her very creative cake cheese board, featuring some French favourites!
Joint second: S. Oldale for her fun and cute snail cake and O. Buckley for her beautifully detailed Arc de Triomphe cake.
Due to the exceptional quality of cakes on display, it has been decided to award a third place price to ALL other participants.
Well done, DHFS!
