    Glossy red poppies, made from clay by our talented Year 7 students for Remembrance Day, went on sale throughout December 2017. Around 70 were sold, raising £264.66 for The Royal British Legion. Thank you to everyone in the community who bought one.

  • Students reach FutureChef Local Final

    Tuesday 09th January, 2018:

    On Tuesday 9th January, Year 9 students, Daniel Hale and Leigh Speight, spent the day in Sheffield Hallam University's industrial kitchens to take part in the Springboard FutureChef Local Finals. Both worked exceptionally hard, producing restaurant quality food.

  • Ex-student to chair BIMUN Council

    Monday 18th December, 2017:

    George Vandrill (DHFS Year 12 MUNOG delegate in October 2016) has been invited to be chair of the Security Council at Belgrade International Model United Nations (BIMUN) in March 2018. This is one of the most prestigious councils in any Model United Nations event.

  • Well done to our Spelling Bee winners

    Friday 15th December, 2017:

    Congratulations to Daniel Clayton (MIL10) for winning the cross-faculty Spelling Bee! Sofia Chaudhry (GOS09) came second, and Fin Ramsden Twigg (BAG03) came third. They win £20, £10, and £5 worth of 'Love to Shop' vouchers respectively.

  • Y9 win regional 'MakeIt' STEM heat

    Thursday 30th November, 2017:

    Year 9 students competed in the Manufacturing Institute's 'MakeIt' STEM competition on 30th November, against 6 teams from other schools. They presented their business plan clearly and confidently... and won the heat! The final is in Manchester in July 2018.

    Monday 27th November, 2017:

    Former student, Jack Shephard, fulfilled a childhood dream after victory in the SS6 men's singles at the Para-badminton World Championships. Jack, 20, said: "Becoming world men's champion was a dream of mine at the age of 14. It's incredible I'm champion."

  • Boys win U16 Table Tennis qualifier

    Tuesday 21st November, 2017:

    T Atkinson, T Lee, J Gorrell, and J Blake, won the U16 Derbyshire Schools Table Tennis qualifier, on 21st November. They beat 6 other schools to win the tournament, and progress to the English Schools Table Tennis competition in Bradford in January.

  • Y7 wins Derbyshire QuadKids contest

    Sunday 19th November, 2017:

    A big "well done" goes out to Ruby Sayles (GOS07) who entered the Derbyshire QuadKids competition on Sunday 19th November, at the Sheffield Institute of Sport. Ruby won 1st place in the Year 7 group with some brilliant scores!

    Friday 17th November, 2017:

    Isaac White, Charlie Yapp and Harry Lyon, who left Sixth Form in 2016, had their record 'Take It Or Leave It' played on Radio 1 on Friday 17th November. The song was nominated 'Record of The Week' and aired on the Clara Amfo session.

    Tuesday 14th November, 2017:

    Jonathan Blake (Year 11) will be on television on Tuesday 14th November, 7pm on CBBC, in his lead role for 'Creeped Out', where he plays an online bully. The episode is called 'Trolled' and judging by the trailer, it looks to be excellent.

  • We celebrate best ever A Level results

    Thursday 17th August, 2017:

    We celebrated with record results on 17th August, with a 9% increase on last year's excellent outcomes. Overall, results across the board, for girls and boys, were hugely impressive; particularly for the top grades with 64% at A*/B and 33% at A*/A.
