  • FutureChef scores 39/40 in Local Final

    Wednesday 21st November, 2018:

    Sam (Year 9) and Leigh (Year 11) competed in the Springboard FutureChef Local Finals on Wednesday 21st November. They made a 2-course meal for under £7, and Leigh got an amazing score of 39/40! She'll be competing in the National Finals in January.

  • U18 girls win Round 2 in National Cup

    Friday 09th November, 2018:

    The U18 girls football team won 3-2 in the 2nd round of the English Schools' Football National Cup, playing against South Hunsley Sixth Form College. With goals from Megan Jones and Eve Moat, the U18s march on to Round 3. Marvellous game, ladies!

  • Poppies and keyrings for Remembrance

    Friday 09th November, 2018:

    2018 marks 100 years since the end of the World War 1, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Students made clay poppies and acrylic keyrings in honour of the DHFS service men who lost their lives, and to raise funds for Help for Heroes.

  • U16 girls win Round 2 in National Cup

    Thursday 08th November, 2018:

    The U16 girls' football team played Tapton School in the English Schools' Football National Cup. DHFS girls clinched the win after originally going 1-0 up. The final score was 2-1 on the bitterly cold evening, but the team got on with it and progress to Round 3!

  • NED Primary Sports Hall Athletics

    Thursday 08th November, 2018:

    On 8th November, we hosted the NED Primary School Sports Hall Athletics Competition for Year 5 and 6. 8 schools competed and Gorseybrigg won. Thanks to our 25 young sports leaders for helping. It was a great success and we saw a few Olympians in the making.

    Year 10 performing arts and drama assistants lead a puppetry workshop with Stonlelow Junior's Year 5 students for their creativity week. They devised their own puppet shows to music, and performed to classmates. Thanks for this enjoyable afternoon.

    Year 12 maths students attended a Maths Inspiration event on 25th October, fronted by four mathematicians, a jug of water, and a boomerang. The event showed how maths can be used in the real world to help solve problems and understand the world better.

  • Basketballers upskill with Sheff Sharks

    Tuesday 23rd October, 2018:

    On Tuesday 23rd October, 3 students took part in a taster session with DBL Sheffield Sharks Basketball Team at the EIS. Warm-up drills, honing skills, and atmospheric thrills; The day had it all. Great work everyone and thanks to the Sharks for this fab opportunity.

  • Northern cross country relay success

    Saturday 20th October, 2018:

    Much success in the x3 relays on Saturday 20th October: Gabriel Gisborne achieved a Northern silver medal and South Yorkshire gold for the team U17 event (8th fastest time), and Emma Shipley gained an U15 double gold (3rd fastest time). Brilliant!

  • Cultural bakes raise £47.60 for charity

    Wednesday 26th September, 2018:

    We celebrated the 'European Day of Languages' on 26th September with a cultural 'Bake Off'. Well done to winners, Holly Rylance and Charlotte Colley! All the bakes were wonderful and the sale afterwards raised £47.60 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

  • Mission Recycling: Success!

    Monday 24th September, 2018:

    Last year's focus on getting recycling initiated within school has been achieved! There'll be four 100 litre recycling bins to collect plastic bottles, for Phoenix Hall, Fanshawe Diner, Henry's and the Hub. This wouldn't have been possible without your help and support!

  • SkillForce graduates gain Prince Award

    Tuesday 18th September, 2018:

    Four students attended the Prince William Awards Ceremony at Birmingham Uni on 18th September. David Walliams presented, and they were later photographed with him and Prince William. Each received a graduation certificate for their SkillForce efforts.

  • Strong year of GCSE results at DHFS

    Thursday 23rd August, 2018:

    We celebrated another strong year of GCSE results this August; 58% of students achieved grades 5-9 in English and maths (78% got min. standard passes in both). Creative and technology subjects scored high above national figures and we had 66 grade 9s in science!

  • A Level students gain 100% pass rate

    Thursday 16th August, 2018:

    100% A Level pass rate has been achieved by hard graft; 64% of students achieved at least 1 A*/A/B grade, 26% gained A*/A grades, and quite amazing progress made by some individuals who battled against challenging circumstances. Well done all!
