Over the past term, Year 7 students were invited to participate in Readathon; a nationwide event in which people raise money through reading to help children in hospital. All we can say is "WOW"! They really did themselves proud...
'Read for Good' gets children reading for fun through their sponsored Readathon, and the money raised buys books for schools, and brings the power of stories to children in hospital via mobile bookcases and resident storytellers. The charity motivates whole schools and communities to read for fun, as they believe that loving reading changes lives.
Between them, the Year 7 students have raised an impressive £3356.27, which will make a huge difference to the lives of children suffering from illnesses and injuries in hospital. A huge well done to all our Year 7 participants – you should feel very proud of yourselves.
Congratulations to the winning group and their teachers: 7B, Miss Jacklin, and Miss Yates! This class raised a fantastic £544.36 between them, and their hard work and commitment is hugely appreciated.
Further congratulations goes to Evie Hamilton (7D, MIL05) who personally raised the highest amount: £85 of sponsorship money for the charity. As a token of our appreciation for her hard work, Evie will receive £10 of vouchers - well done, Evie!
